The PTA is actively involved in a number of initiatives to support staff and the parents within the school community. These can be broadly divided in to 2 areas - fundraising and support. We are always looking for opportunities to engage families with school life and create a positive environment for teachers and children.
Some examples of how the PTA get involved include:
- Baking rosters
- Supporting the Book Fair
- Weld Street information sessions for new families
- Student council sausage sizzles
- Staff presents at Christmas
- Checking First Aid kits
- Second Hand Uniforms (see below)
- Communicating PTA updates (school newsletter)
- Annual working bee
The PTA are always on the lookout for new and exciting fundraising opportunities. Some examples from the past include:
- House and Garden Walk (every 3 years)
- Kids art on calendars and diaries
- Math/ Spell/ Walk -a-thons
- Inspire photography sessions
- Wadestown Village Fair (March)
Second Hand Uniforms
Two plastic boxes have been made available at the school. One is at the Rose Street site, downstairs from the school office, near the door to the hall. The other is at Weld Street next to the bell just to your left as you come in the door. Items up to size 6 should go to the Side School. If you have something to sell please put it in a clear plastic snap lock bag and write your name, phone number or email address and your price on the outside of the bag. Then if someone wants to buy your item they can contact you to arrange payment.
It is an ‘all care and no responsibility’ system and it will operate in the same way as an honesty box. We do not want people leaving cash in bags for obvious reasons. The school cannot take responsibility for items going missing, so any clothing put into the box is at your own risk.
At the beginning of each year, we have a stall set up to enable parents to buy or sell uniform items. Keep an eye on the school newsletters for details.
