AGM 19 May 2010
Chairpersons Report
It was only when Carolyn and I started to write the report and reflect back on the last 12 months that we realized what a huge effort has been made by a dedicated team of people that has helped the school through what has been a transient period with the changes in Principals. eg the team that helped with the library, the class coordinators who get people together for morning teas and communicate school news, and to all those parents who organise working bees, road safety matters, emergency plans, sausage sizzles, baking, organising rosters for the Side School and many other jobs, all of which I know Steve Allen has really appreciated while getting to grips with his new position. Carolyn and I are only two members of that very large team but we would also like you all to know how much we really appreciate your help and support- Thank You.
We only need to look at the income and expenditure statement to see that last year was extremely busy and we can be proud of projects we have accomplished, James Bond, PE Shed, Tree pruning, Gutters cleared, Is your style right, PTA open afternoon, Sun Hats, Emergency food and water available in every classroom, Calendars’, Cards, Tea towels, and entertainment books Wow a huge achievement which we should all be proud of.
This year through the hard work of our treasurer Kate Parker Lucy trevellyan and Lou Bird the Parents association has been granted Charitable Status and has been renamed Wadestown School Parents Association and is now a real amalgamation of the school community and Staff.
We have also seen the development of the WSPTA website and for this we have to thank Tania Candy. Please take time to have a browse and give us your feedback or pass on any article or information you would like to be included. www.wadestownschoolpta.co.nz
Looking forward, Mr Allen has asked for the support of the WSPTA to help raise the funds for the introduction of Interactive White Boards into the school. This is a large project and we hope to be able to donate significant funds therefore we have two projects planned for the year, on November 14 2010, the School WSPTA will be hosting the very popular Wadestown Homes & Gardens Tour, and a Year Book which will be a celebration of the childrens activites throughout the year.
From past experience we know that we can rely on the support and generosity of the school community, friends and families. There is a great community spirit within Wadestown School, and when we all work together we can make anything happen.
